The roots of A Program in Miracles may be tracked back again to the relationship between two persons, Helen Schucman and William Thetford, both of whom were outstanding psychologists and researchers. The course's inception occurred in the early 1960s when Schucman, who had been a clinical and research psychologist at Columbia University's School of Physicians and Surgeons, began to see some inner dictations. She described these dictations as via an interior voice that discovered it self as Jesus Christ. Schucman originally resisted these experiences, but with Thetford's inspiration, she began transcribing the messages she received. Around an amount of seven years, Schucman transcribed what can become A Course in Wonders, amounting to three amounts: the Text, the Book for Pupils, and the Information for Teachers.
